Callahan Wins National Gold Level Safety Award for 7th Consecutive Year

Callahan Construction was recently presented with a Gold Level Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) award by The National Associated Builders & Contractors at the Gould Construction Institute’s Safety and Education event for the seventh consecutive year. The Gold Level status demonstrates Callahan’s dedication to job site safety, as practiced by its employees and subcontractors.

“Being honored with the STEP award means a lot to us,” said Steve O’Reilly, Safety Director at Callahan Construction. “As a company we strive to improve the quality and conditions for our workers and are committed to maintaining a secure and protected work area on each and every project we build.”

The National Associated Builders & Contractors established STEP, a safety improvement tool, in 1989. To be presented with the STEP award, a company must prove its excellence in workplace safety and provide its employees with evaluation tools that guarantee their protection.

“To be nominated for the award, we had to provide all manner of documentation about our safety program,” said O’Reilly. “We also had to describe our day to day safety protocol and take part in a lengthy key component evaluation.”

Though the application process was extensive, it was well worth it. “We are proud of maintaining such safe work sites for our employees,” added O’Reilly. “We urge other companies to do the same.”
